Craig E.

How would you describe your approach to counselling?

My counselling approach is relational and collaborative. I aim to meet clients where they are emotionally, offering a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental space to explore their thoughts and feelings. I seek to validate their experience through careful listening and empathic understanding, helping them feel heard, accepted, and supported. A part of my approach involves gently challenging unhelpful thought patterns and facilitating clients in being able to reframe their challenges and begin to view themselves with greater compassion, strength, and clarity.

What do you think are the most important factors in the counselling relationship?

I see trust, openness, respect and honest dialogue as the foundation of a good counselling relationship. I regularly check in with clients to ensure our sessions feel useful and align with their needs from counselling.

Do you have any special interests or client groups that you work a lot with?

I work a lot with client groups who are going through significant life transitions—including navigating loss, relationship changes, identity questions, or work-related challenges. Change can be unsettling, but it can also be an opportunity for growth.

What do you enjoy most about your work as a counsellor?

What I enjoy most about counselling is when a client recognises or rediscovers their own resilience and capacity for healing. I find it rewarding to help clients reflect, regroup, and recognise strengths they may have forgotten they had.

I once had a song played on BBC’s Radio One Rock Show (A very long time ago!)
