My approach to counselling is person-centred, offering a non-judgmental, warm, confidential and safe space, one where you feel comfortable to talk about whatever you chose to. I believe that there is no one size fits all in counselling, no person or situation is the same. I will ensure that you feel heard and validated whilst supporting you to make lasting and positive changes, empowering you to take back control of your life. Sessions are led by you; I am not here to advise you but to support you to find a way to understand and work through things and find a new self-awareness. We will go at your pace, I will encourage you to develop confidence in your own ability to problem solve and explore life events, thoughts, feelings and anything else that may feel important. I have been fortunate to gain experience by working with mental health charities such as Mind, Place2Be, Eye2Eye and Gofal for over twenty years, supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing. I have worked with a range of different clients from the ages of 7 to 78 years. Some of the issues that I have worked with include stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, grief, loss, trauma and relationship issues.
The counselling relationship is paramount to the counselling process and a trusting environment is built on genuineness, empathy and confidentiality. I believe that it is very important to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship, one where you are not judged and can express yourself openly and honestly. I can provide you with a space that feels friendly, welcoming and comfortable for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and sense of self.
My most recent training and interest is in trauma and the impact that early life trauma has on our day to day lives how it affects us on an emotional and physiological level. I am passionate about supporting people of any age to connect with themselves, those around them, the environment that they are in and to support them to live the life that they wish to.
I really enjoy empowering people to explore their thoughts and feelings, supporting them to connect with their bodies and those around them in a more meaningful, confident and fulfilling way.
I very much enjoy the great outdoors and being immersed in nature.
