How would you describe your approach to counselling?
My approach is typically CBT in that we will work together to produce desired goals and form a treatment plan together, although this will be very person-centred and unique to the client and their needs. I will work with you to start to form agendas for the session so that we are getting what you need from each session and the overall treatment.
What do you think are the most important factors in the counselling relationship?
I think the most important factors in a therapeutic relationship is that building of trust through reliability and commitment. I feel this can be further built on through sessions where I will bring a non-judgemental, empathetic and warm approach.
Do you have any special interests or client groups that you work a lot with?
I have work with depression and a range of anxiety disorders including generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety and death anxiety. I have further worked with OCD and PTSD.
What do you enjoy most about your work as a therapist?
What I enjoy most about working as a counsellor is seeing a client start to see their own results through the hard work once they have committed to therapy. Seeing that lightbulb moment where they come to the realisation that changes can be made and there is hope is inspiring and the biggest driver for me.
